Stage 81: Chance Meeting Part 2

Misato: Shinji, I'm going to tell you everything I found out.
*Shinji looking away disheartenedly*
Misato: Well, you're going to listen whether you like it or not. In the
past, an astral body crashed into this planet together with a seed of life.
That was First Impact (Giant Impact*).  Turning into space-dust, it
eventually formed the moon, but deep underground, it left behind the seed of
life, Lillith.  At the same time, Earth itself carried in it the seed of
life, Adam.  That was the name written in Seele's Secret Dead Sea Scrolls.
Adam gave birth to twelve angels including itself.  Lillith likewise gave
birth to one angel.  Shinji, we humans are actually the thirteenth angel
that should never have been born onto this planet.  The Second Impact of 15
years ago was brought about by humans.  But that was in order to shrink Adam
down into an embryo before the other angels awakened in order to delay and
minimize the destruction of the blast.  The other angels were another
possibility for a mankind with a different shape than us humans.  The angels
aimed for the geofront in order to merge with Lillith in the place of the
lost Adam so they could destroy all life and remain on the planet as the
sole new species.  You pilots used the Evas to defeat the angels and protect
humanity.  But Seele and your father are still striving for Third Impact.
Destroy the last angel, humanity, and evolve into a new life form, that is
the Human Instrumentality Project.  Yet, it seems that Seele's and your
father's final goals differ somehow.  Eva holds the key to human
instrumentality.  Shinji, if you don't move, humanity has no choice but to
be destroyed.
Radio: Eva-02 activated.
*Misato startled*
Radio: Asuka is unharmed.  She's alive.  She's currently facing off with the
SJSDF in the middle of the artifical lake.
Misato: Asuka is...!
*Shinji, having been looking down the entire time finally looks up*
Soldier: Fire!  Fire!
Maya: Asuka, counterattack!
*Asuka uses a battleship to deflect missiles and throws it at the SJSDF
soldiers*

Scene: Dreamworld in Asuka's head
Asuka (mind): There's a dream that I've seen over and over who knows how
many times.  I went on a picnic with Mama when I was small.  A dream of a
sunflower field.
Kyoko (Asuka's mom): Asuka, hold on to mama.
Asuka (mind): Mama said that as she disappeared into the sunflower field.
Little Asuka: Mama! Wait! Mama! Mama! Where are you?!
Asuka (mind): I was surrounded by tall sunflowers.  I could never find Mama.

Scene: Battlefield, missiles fly at Eva-02 but are dodged gracefully
(inhumanly?)
Asuka (mind): Sorry, Mama, for not finding you.  You were here all along.
You were here all along looking over me.
*Eva-02 blocks and detonates two big missiles with its AT Field*
Asuka: Mama, I know what the AT field stands for now.  Back then, that
wasn't the real Mama.  Mama, you've been protecting me all along.

*: Sadamoto added the romanization Giant Impact next to the katakana
(Japanese) for First Impact.  I'm guessing he was going for something along
the lines of the Great War which was only called that until there was a
second one and it became World War I.
